 BCBG (an acronym for the French phrase "bon chic, bon genre" or "good style, good attitude") is a women's designer clothing line developed by the Tunisian born entrepreneur Max Azria. BCBG states their mission and philosophy as:
- Commitment to the highest standards of creativity, innovation, and quality in design
- Building a lifestyle brand that fulfills the ever changing needs of today's modern woman
- Generating and maintaining strong relationships with customers through continuous communication and excellence in service
- A global vision of good style, good attitude
BCBG's roots began in 1981 after Azria moved to the United States and launched Jess - a line of "new concept retail boutiques offering hip French fashion to American women." In 1989, the BCBG Max Azria brand was born with an offering of three products, as a combination of "European sophistication and American spirit." The BCBG line has since evolved into a vast collection of evening dresses, bridal, denim, footwear, swimwear, handbags and other accessories.
In August 2005, Azria was joined by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Vanity Fair in hosting the opening of his 5,000 square foot BCBG Max Azria flagship in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive. The star-studded event was attended by Sharon Stone, Nicole Richie, Paula Abdul, and Michelle Trachtenberg, among others.
Max Azria is an avid supporter of breast cancer awareness. He states, "as a part of an industry that caters mainly to women, breast cancer awareness is a cause that I feel very passionate about and take very seriously; even more so with six very special women in my life including my wife and five daughters."
